What is the difference between and financial adviser and an independent financial adviser?

Financial advisers are not linked to any insurance companies or investment companies. That means they can give truly independent advice. Independent Financial Advisors can go out to the whole of the market. Financial advisers or restricted advisers can only give advice from a select pool of providers or their own products. Generally Independent Financial Advisors are seen as the better option because they can use the whole market.
